WorkCover rehabilitation
Injury rehabilitation, at home or at work
Up the Road Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation sees Queensland workers with an accepted WorkCover claim, at home or at the workplace, across the Gold Coast from Yatala to Coolangatta and west to Gilston.
In-home visits suit workers who find travel hard after an injury or surgery, and let us practise real work and home tasks in the place they happen. See the suburbs we visit.
What we do
- Assessment and treatment of work-related injuries.
- Rehabilitation after surgery.
- Graded exercise programs and return-to-work tasks.
- Work-specific programs at a gym or pool where your job needs it, with approval first (gym-based rehab).
- Workplace visits to look at duties and set-up.
- Progress reports for your case manager and treating doctor.

How it works
- Your claim. You need an accepted WorkCover Queensland (or self-insurer) claim. To lodge one you need a work capacity certificate from your doctor. Have your claim number handy when you call us.
- Your first five visits. WorkCover pre-approves the first five consultations, including the initial assessment, as long as no other allied health provider has already treated the same injury.
- More treatment if you need it. If you need to keep going past those five visits, Shreya sends WorkCover a Provider Management Plan setting out your progress, the gains we expect and how long it should take. WorkCover decides from there.
- Nothing to pay. WorkCover pays us directly at its set fees for approved treatment, so there is no gap and nothing to pay on the day.
- Staying in touch. We keep your case manager and doctor up to date, so your return-to-work plan reflects how you are actually tracking.
Correct as at October 2026, based on WorkCover Queensland’s Physiotherapy and Allied Health Services Tables of Costs effective 1 July 2026. WorkCover updates these each year; your case manager has the last word on what is approved.
Travel and home visits
WorkCover pays a travel fee when a physiotherapist leaves their normal place of practice to treat a worker at home, at work, in hospital or in the community, so a home visit does not cost you anything extra. Where more than one worker is seen in the same area on the same day, the travel is split between them.
If you miss a visit
WorkCover does not pay for appointments a worker misses or cancels. Please give us 2 clear business days’ notice if you need to change a visit, and talk to us if something comes up. See our cancellation policy.
WorkCover will not pay for a missed visit, and its table of costs does not say whether the provider may bill the worker instead. The fees page currently says late cancellations “may be charged up to the full fee” for everyone. Decide whether WorkCover clients are excluded from that, and ask WorkCover directly if unsure. Do not charge an injured worker unless WorkCover allows it.
For case managers
The referrers page has what we need with a referral and how reporting works.
Draft wording: “We aim to send reports promptly and reply on the same business day.” Confirm the reply time Shreya can commit to every week, or cut the sentence.
