Gym-based rehab
Rehab at your gym
Shreya can meet you at your local gym to work on lifting and loading after an injury, in the place you are going to keep training.
What a gym session looks like
Sessions run at a public gym: yours, or one near you. Shreya does not have her own gym, so you train where you already go, on the equipment you are actually going to use.
- Looking at how you lift and move, and working on technique.
- Building load back up a step at a time, at a pace that suits the stage you are at.
- Turning a rehab program into a normal training program you can keep doing on your own.
- Working out which exercises to leave alone for now, and what to do instead.
After a work injury
If your job involves lifting, gym work can form part of a return-to-work program. WorkCover Queensland funds work-specific exercise programs built around the demands of your job, with your case manager’s approval first. The program has to be aimed at getting you back to work rather than at general fitness, and WorkCover can also cover gym entry for a limited period.

Funding
- Private: the standard visit fee. See fees.
- WorkCover Queensland: approval before we start, then no gap to pay.
- NDIS: charged as an ordinary therapy session where it fits your goals.
Your own gym membership or casual entry is separate from the visit fee, except where WorkCover has approved it as part of your program.
Decide which Gold Coast gyms Shreya is happy to work in, and check whether she needs her own membership or casual entry at each. WorkCover pays gym entry for the worker, but not for the provider.
